Situation
In July 2020, the new Te Nikau Grey hospital was opened. The 8,500m² facility includes 56 in-patient beds, 3 operating theatres, and a 24/7 emergency department. The new modern facility was well received by those living on the West Coast, replacing an old and out of date facility ensuring the local community will have better access to healthcare and will benefit from high quality integrated services.

Approach
One aspect of the complex building services package of this project was the installation of 70 DeLonghi steel panel radiators, 65 of these radiators are the Type 32 low surface temperature model, these radiators have an integrated isolating front panel achieving low surface temperatures while the radiators are operating ensuring the safety of those visiting or staying at the facility, while still achieving a comfortable internal environment.
Outcome
DBC building services completed the installation of the mechanical services package, working around unforeseen or unconsidered obstacles to providing a tidy, functional, and safe installation that is low maintenance. This new system will provide a long-lasting heating system for this building with the radiators supplied with a 25-year warranty providing assurance for the future.
